Count the Cost: Too High A Price?

Posted By Jacque Dixon on December 27, 2009 in Categories: Daughters of Scripture, In the Way They Should Go, Thy WORD is Life, Titus 2 Women, Training Children

Count the cost. There is a price for everything.

Today, everyone seems to want something for nothing. Children want gifts, even if they are disobedient and disrespectful; teens want to have the adult lifestyle without paying the cost of experience and hard work; adults want their government to take care of them; freebies, freebies, freebies.

Even Christians want the blessings and good promises of the Bible but not the whole of the Scriptures that direct us how to live a life set apart as commanded by the Father.

Psalm 103:17-18
“But the mercy of Yahveh-God on those who fear him is from eternity past to eternity future, and his righteousness extends to his children’s children,

18 provided they keep his covenant and remember to follow his precepts.”

His righteousness does extend to his children and their children, but not for free. When we come to him and acknowledge him as our GOD, there is a covenant that pertains to this righteousness and care of Yahveh-God. It is a covenant we enter into when we choose and agree to be his people. He said, on Mount Sinai, “You will be my people, and I will be your Elohim (God).”

Just as the Hebrews did, we set into an unbreakable ‘marriage covenant’ by agreeing to be his bride. By this agreement, he is like our husband, and as in an earthly marriage, there are ‘rules’ that apply. He expects us to be wholly his, set apart for and to him alone, not to others. We are to be faithful to what he wants in a bride, and not selfish or sinful in our own desires. He set forth these ‘wishes’, these ‘rules’, in the form of his commandments. He gave a base of them on Mount Sinai in the Ten Commandments. Then, as any good spouse does, he didn’t leave us hanging with just those ten, wondering what the parameters of them are. http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/nn63/sillydreamer91/crafts/tzitziyot.pngHe expounded on them throughout the Old Testament, giving us more and more definitive commandments so we can know him and what his true desires of his bride are.

Likewise, salvation is free upon acceptance. However, to live and to walk in the ways of Yahshua-the Son, there is a price. We must turn from our sin and turn to the ways of the Father. As Yahshua told us and showed us, the ways of the Father are to keep his commandments. All of them. He said, “if you love me, you will keep my Father’s commandments (John 14:24).”

My question to you is this: Do you know Yahveh’s covenant?  His commandments?
Do you know the Scriptures the Messiah read from and lived by? Do you daily strive to walk in those Scriptures as he did? Or have you relied on doctrines of man to tell you how to live?

It is hard to keep the commandments today in the face of the ridicule of others. But, we must do it. We must remember his covenant and follow his commandments. We must pass them on to our children and to their children.  It is not too high a price.

  3. Jacque, you are right. I pray for His grace and the power to do what is right.

I do not want to be compelled to obey His laws. I want to obey Him because I love Him.

Please pray for a true knowledge of His law in my life – not a legalistic; religious situation, but a deep desire to do what is right in His sight.

Thank you for all you share and do. I do appreciate it.

Very good Post! It is sad today how we don’t even follow the 10 laws. It seems the world love’s foolishness and turns away from the truth. Itching ears I guess.. Yahweh will judge there hearts when there day comes. Its great to see people standing up for the teachings of Yahweh, his Torah, and the light which is his word.

May Yahweh Bless you and your family for all that you do.
