Making The Home: Wash Those Walls!
Though I try do it anyway, whenever we’re having company, I always make sure to wipe down the walls. Obviously we have many, and all are covered in little hand prints, though seemingly invisible, with dirt and grime just from living here. It would seem to make little difference in cleanliness, but it actually does.
I usually get a small bucket of soapy water to scrub them down and then wipe them down with a rag. Sometimes I use a scrub-brush. Since our walls are all white, using a flashlight before finishing to look at the wall will help you to see if you missed any spots. I personally start from left-bottom to right and then go up as far as I can. I also always dust before I wash walls so that no dust will fall and cling to the walls afterward, defeating the entire purpose.
This is one job that the Littles don’t mind helping with, and actually they’re thrilled. Any small tasks like this that I can have the Littles help me with I always make sure to ask them to. They get excited to see the walls go from grimy to clean, and it keeps them busy while doing something constructive.
